Plug In-Turn The Power On!

Recently the Northwest, specifically Washington State where World Vision is headquartered, was hit with a large snowstorm that blanketed the area and caused many to lose power. When I spoke with a World Vision representative, I asked how they were responding to the weather. They said that the weather was extreme for their region and that many had been without power for days. The WV Director had challenged them that day to remember the many children and families around the world who never have power and have much worse living conditions. This impacted many of them as to how they should react to their own uncomfortable situations.

I told them there is also another way to look at it. The world is without power now, and we have the power source. All we have to do is plug them into the Word. The Word is Jesus.

In John 8:12 Jesus says, “I am the light of the world”. In Matthew 5:14 He says, “You are the light of the world”. They are in darkness, and we have the light. All we have to do is shine our light, plug the world into the Word, and turn the power on!

The World Vision representative was excited and encouraged by this, and said they couldn’t wait to share it with others in the office. It helps me, too and I hope it encourages you today. Let’s turn the power on!
