The Veil and Stone

Happy Resurrection Season! It’s such a season of hope and newness, all because of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!

The veil and the stone have much in common, and you may have heard details of each in the Gospel accounts.

On Good Friday, when our Lord was crucified, and at the very moment His flesh died, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom. (Matthew 27:51-52) As we know, this wasn't so God could get out, (Psalm 24:1 says, The earth is the Lord's), but the veil was torn so that we could get IN to the temple, into His presence. Hebrews 10:19-23 says we now have boldness to enter the Holy Place through the blood of Jesus. We now enter through the veil, which is His flesh.

Likewise in Matthew 28:2, God sent an angel from Heaven to roll the stone away. Jesus didn't need the stone rolled away for Him to come out of the tomb. In verse 18, Jesus declares that He has ALL POWER in Heaven and Earth, so He could’ve moved the stone or walked through the stone. Again, God didn't move the stone so Jesus could get out. The stone was rolled away so witnesses could see the EVIDENCE of the EMPTY TOMB!!

Hallelujah! This is the power of the Gospel!

Our lives in Christ are evidence of this resurrection power, so let's testify with boldness today. It IS a GOOD FRIDAY!
